Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Dr. Boyce Watkins and the ladies of Dear Diary Productions; Ashley Shante' & Squeaky Moore, are joining forces to create a film that will have people discussing what has unfortunately become a norm in today’s world. Fatherless homes. Today marks the launch of our new fundraising campaign, a Kickstarter campaign, to help get this needed film created. This highly anticipated film, Father’s Day?, is a follow up to the viral-internet sensation- PSA "64", a promo for the film that struck immediate controversy in communities around the world. Our world is ripe for this epic story of a young girl’s emotional discovery of the affects of having an absent father.
Father's Day? Is a narrative film that is being created as a way to spark conversations across the world, and to talk about the importance of Fatherhood, especially within the African American community. Our mission is simple: We want to bring global awareness to the deeply rooted issues of fatherlessness. To shed light on what has unfortunately become the norm, especially in ethnic communities.
The film stars, Justiin A. Davis (Boardwalk Empire), Roz Coleman (Frankie & Alice), Lawrence Saint-Victor (Guiding Light), as well as the ladies of Dear Diary Productions themselves, Ashley Shanté and Squeaky Moore.
Myself and Dear Diary Productions; a powerful, oxymoron pair, have plans to take the social conscious, and entertainment-tuned world by storm. You may ask "What does this oxymoron pair have in common?" Though in very different ways, we each grew up fatherless.
With a leap of faith, we have decided to launch a fundraising campaign, to help raise the remainder of funds needed for film production costs. The clock is ticking. We only have 9 days left, to make this happen. Filming is set to begin on September 2nd, in New York City.
With so little time before filming is set to begin, your contributions are necessary. Father’s Day? is not a film only for the African American Community. Fatherless homes have become a global issue affecting a multitude of cultures. Don’t wait: let’s join together now to get Father’s Day? created and viewed in cinemas across the world.
With deep gratitude for your continued generosity,
Love,
Ashley Shante’, Squeaky Moore and Boyce Watkins
